THE LAW FIRM OF HERMANN, CAHN & SCHNEIDER
Hermann, Cahn & Schneider is a multi-dimensional 15-attorney litigation firm located in Cleveland, OH. The firm’s trial lawyers provide aggressive advocacy and creative problem solving in securities disputes, medical malpractice and personal injury cases, divorce and family law matters, and a wide array of lawsuits involving business, insurance, and governmental subdivision liability.
The Stockmarketloss group, a litigation team within the HC&S law firm, consists of investment misconduct lawyers Anthony J. Hartman, Jay H. Salamon, and Hugh D. Berkson. We spend nearly all of our professional time litigating investment disputes, exclusively representing investors injured by stockbrokers, investment advisors, insurance agents, and other investment professionals.
MORE THAN 80 YEARS OF COMBINED EXPERIENCE
The three of us combined have spent more than 80 years fighting on both sides of the securities litigation wars. For decades, we represented major securities broker-dealers, defending them against customer claims of fraud and negligence. But we eventually became tired of defending activities we felt were unconscionable. Every day, we saw elderly and vulnerable retirees, blue-collar and middle-class investors, professionals, and business executives losing their hard-earned money at the hands of incompetent, reckless, or dishonest stockbrokers, advisors, financial planners, and insurance agents. As a consequence, we decided to redirect our efforts and to focus solely on helping investors who have been victimized by corrupt or careless brokerage firms, insurance companies, and investment advisory firms, as well as individual brokers and agents.
Our many years spent defending brokerage firms have provided us with valuable insight into the strategies employed by stock brokers and their lawyers. We know how they think and what tactics they’ll use. Because of our experience, you can feel confident in our ability to anticipate and prepare for whatever may happen in your case.
CORPORATIONS HAVE PLENTY OF LAWYERS. WE HELP PEOPLE.
We really love what we do. Real human beings, often in dire straits, come to us as victims of corporate greed and dishonesty. We empower people to fight back.
We may overwork your case, but we’ll never underwork it. We’re sincerely devoted to each client and we consistently put forth the effort clients deserve and expect from us. We take every conceivable ethical measure to fight for the best result for each client, and securities defense lawyers and investment consultants know it. That’s why so many of our referrals come from securities law firms and principled financial professionals. They refer their own clients to us when those clients run afoul of a bad broker or investment advisor.
WE’RE REALLY GOOD AT WHAT WE DO.
We’re proud of the reputation we’ve earned in the legal community. For example, each of the team’s three attorneys and the law firm of Hermann, Cahn & Schneider LLP has received an AV® Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell®. The most authoritative guide to the American legal profession, Martindale Hubbell® has assigned ratings to lawyers for over a century and currently rates more than 150,000 lawyers each year. The “AV” rating awarded to Tony, Jay, Hugh, and the firm is the highest possible, reserved for lawyers and firms who are “very high to preeminent in professional reputation and very high in ethical standards.”
Our senior partner, Tony Hartman, is perennially chosen by his peers for inclusion in the annual publication Best Lawyers in America®, the definitive guide to legal excellence in the United States. Selection to Best Lawyers® is based on an exhaustive and rigorous peer-review survey, and inclusion is considered a singular honor. In fact, for 2012, Tony has been named a “Best Lawyer” in two categories: securities litigation and commercial litigation.
And just recently, the “newest” member of our team, Hugh Berkson (a mere 17-year lawyer, twelve of which have been served as a team member of Stockmarketloss), was elected to serve as a director of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association, an international legal association for practitioners who represent investors in disputes with the securities industry. Hugh has earned the esteem of his peers as a frequent lecturer on investment litigation issues, both through PIABA and in other national forums.
